How to Access Mt. Katsuragi

🚋 By Train, Bus & Ropeway

Mt. Katsuragi is accessible via public transportation, making it an ideal tourist destination in Nara for visitors from Osaka and Kyoto.

1. Take the Kintetsu Line to Gose Station (or JR Gose Station).
2. Board the Nara Kotsu Bus to “Katsuragi Ropeway-mae” (about 15 minutes).
3. Ride the Katsuragi Ropeway to the top (about 6 minutes).
4. Walk about 15 minutes from the ropeway station to the summit.

🚠 Scenic Ropeway Ride to the Mountain Top

Taking the Katsuragi Ropeway was one of the highlights of the trip! The six-minute ride offered stunning aerial views of Nara Prefecture and beyond. On a clear day, you can even see Awaji Island and the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge in the distance.

These chewy rice dumplings, coated with a sweet and savory sauce, were the perfect snack to enjoy while taking in the mountain views. The stall also sells other local treats, such as udon noodles and oden, making it a great place to rest and enjoy traditional Japanese food.
